PARENT PROJECT PARENTING CLASS

Northwest Local School District (NWLSD) is partnering with Village Empowerment Community Services (VECS) organization for a fourth school year, to offer an intensive 5-week long parenting class. A Parent’s Guide to Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior (CDAB) is the only parent training program that addresses the MOST destructive of adolescent behaviors such as: chronic school truancy, running away from home, taking unhealthy risk, and but not limited to thoughts of experimenting or experimenting with drugs and/or alcohol. This program uses the CDAB behavioral model to address the critical issues parents/caregivers face today and offers step-by-step solutions. The curriculum is interactive and builds on learned skills each week. Parents/caregivers will be given the opportunity to work in groups to brainstorm, practice applying new ideas, and build support. Strategies learned in the group will better prepare parents/caregivers to support their child’s social and emotional development. The program is completely FREE and is open to all parents who reside in the NWLSD community and have children between 10 -18 years of age. Participation is mandatory and classes will be closed after the second week. Childcare (all ages) and dinner will also be provided for FREE on a weekly basis
