Clarification Surrounding Our Covid-19 Protocols
This letter is to provide our staff and families with clarification surrounding our current Covid-19 policies.

On November 3rd, the Board of Education (BOE) voted unanimously to update the District’s Mask Policy, making masks optional but highly recommended for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, while indoors. (Please note, based on federal policy, masks are still required when riding district transportation.) The updated Mask Policy went into effect on November 4, 2021. This change replaced the District’s Tiered Covid Response Plan. As a result, Northwest Local School District will no longer implement its tiered protective interventions based on the six local data points. The Covid Response Plan Dashboard will no longer be updated to reflect trending local data; however, our Covid-19 Tracker, which provides a total count of quarantines and positive cases within each building, will continue to be updated every Monday at 4 PM.

On November 3rd, the BOE also adopted the Ohio Department of Health’s new Mask to Stay and Test to Play guidance which allows students under quarantine related to school-based exposures to continue attending school in-person provided a mask is worn during the quarantine period. This change also went into effect on November 4, 2021. For more information regarding the Mask To Stay/Test To Play guidance click here.
